Hopefully getting the fiberglass doors on next weekend
I have a couple times Had the timing chain replaced a couple weeks ago & it's now throwing VANOS exhaust code intermittently & going into limp mode. Took it back to shop & they couldn't get it to throw a code. Switched the intake & exhaust solenoids last night & cleared the codes to see if it's a sticky solenoid.Clear em and let her eat
Sounds like it needs a carburetor conversion lolI have a couple times Had the timing chain replaced a couple weeks ago & it's now throwing VANOS exhaust code intermittently & going into limp mode. Just an old cj crawler I’ve had for 25yrs. 83cj7 Laredo package, had the standalone a/c under dash. Leaf sprung and stretched to 112”. Dana 60/70 5.13s locked F&R disc, Full hydro steering, 40s. 258i6 with Holley sniper, t5, 4:1 D300, swapping in a SM465 this winter. Cage with corbeaus.Need more pics and details on your cj
The most surprising thing of that whole build list!
Agreed. But It’s still kicking. I have a 465 to swap. The most surprising thing of that whole build list!
Curious about if you reused the distributor gear from the original distributor? I didn’t and ended up buying a matched set after it got chewed up in a very short time. It’s not a lot of fun doing it after install and knowing that there’s metal floating around in the engine.Coil mounted, distributor in, plugs and wires on.
I used a summit racing wire set, I’m not real pleased with how it laid out. I’ll make a set eventually but the summit set was on sale.
I also used one of the OE rocker studs to mount the coil. Thought it was neat to reuse some of the original equipment, but I’ll probably replace it as well.

I didn’t buy a matched set, but asked the edelbrock tech about it, as I’m also running a comp cam. Should be ok according to them.Curious about if you reused the distributor gear from the original distributor? I didn’t and ended up buying a matched set after it got chewed up in a very short time. Hope so! I did buy an ebay distributor that had a harder steel gear than the gear on the cam. It went within a thousand miles or so and acted like the timing was jumping. I’m not taking any chances with this 401 I bought a matching set for it. Looking at yours makes me wish I’d spent extra coin on the fuel injection. I’ll be running FItech, but that Edelbrock system looks sweet!I didn’t buy a matched set, but asked the edelbrock tech about it, as I’m also running a comp cam. Should be ok according to them.
Lubed ‘em up good during install.
What injection system are you running?Still marking things off the mile long list
