What have you done to your rig today?

Got the Manche's new chauffer ready for travel today. Dixie Run bound, early Thursday morning.

12'x5'4" of space for activities. Two 32x80 cots with roomy storage underneath.

Frankly, as quick and easy as this was, I don't think I'll do any interior modifications or permanent fixtures for future off road trips. The storage afforded under the cots takes care of my needs, and the bench seats slide out in about 5 minutes. Now if I was going alone, I wouldn't remove the seats at all, or if there are more than 2 people, we would just bunk down in the floor on some padding.

Broke the drivers side window regulator, during hurricane rain... smdh

Despite this being after a quick cleaning, I was concerned about the bottom end.

However, pulled the pan and was pleasantly surprised, less than expected sludge.

I think it'll ride.

Didn't pull all the caps or rod caps but can't be too terrible, considering. I've run way worse. I'll roll it out and pressure wash the top end to satisfy myself. Then give it a shot of air. And lube. I've forgotten the smell of motors, been awhile since I got this deep into the bottom end.

Ok I was going to wait to do that but I didn't wait.

Needs Curtains^^
Looking into that.

The windows are tinted plenty dark (factory), private enough at night. I had the front doors and windshield strip done. I'll either add another layer of 5%- (quoted $250) on passenger windows, or curtains. Tint is cheaper and lower maintenance with kids.

I hate being right. Started off missing, smoothed out, started roughing back up, then knocking. Grrrrrrr. Unless it just has a loose timing chain and that's all but I guess I might drop the pan and see if any rods are loose since it's got to come down to do the chain. Oh well. "Ran good"

Edit update: cranked it and knock was about gone.. maybe a collapsed lifter from a sticking valve? That would make sense. I'll let her run a good bit tomorrow and see. That would be good with me. Of course that's after I go and borrow a little Nissan pickup from a friend.

49 Chevy pu, s10 frame, 4.8 ls, 4l80, customer work.

I've done the bracket kit to change over to s10, still building a new firewall and inner fences.

Knocking update: she stopped knocking, starting burning oil. Ok add some marvel mystery to the oil. Ok. Run it run ok. (Not driving, just idle/rev). Did that twice. Decided to bring it up to 4k. Started knocking again. $*'";*"-&$#;+$#. Shut her down and left her sit. Well we shall see. The oil control rings must be stuck. Compression rings have to be ok because it's smooth. I didn't pull rod caps, and I bet one towards the front is loose. "Good running" my ass. Friend of a friend deal, I won't lose much as long as I can reuse most hard parts, I'm down to two blocks and three heads. I'm seriously thinking of keeping this Nissan truck and building a new stroker for mine (with supercharging in mind) and stuffing a 5.3 or a rebuilt stocker in my yj though it's way less a priority than my dd xj. I guess I could ride my bike to work, only 7+- miles. And I do have a decent on/off road bike with few miles on it. I should get the exercise....

Started today with 63 Chevy spring swap...didn’t get a pic when I stopped but we rolled the rear end in a set it on its own weight...finish up tomorrow...found a pic screen shot part of a video I sent out

Got one of the new seats in along with the harness and harness bar. Still haven't decided how I'm gonna mount the passenger seat, it'll be till after the Fun Caravan when it gets mounted unless I get to feeling froggy next week.

Finally got tired of looking at the pile of parts I have collected for the second round of suspension for my xj.

20181006_135122.jpg

Damn suspension install fairies have had more than enough time to do this for me.....

Got the front done, too tired to start the rear...

20181006_191722.jpg

Got the rear finished up. Much better shackle angle. Those bilstein rear shocks are going to bug me forever, look upside down.......

Boogered together an extension so I can carry my spare. Also hooked up the lights (finally) in my olbullfish hand-me-down bumper. If anybody finds a 35" Cooper MTP in the next few weeks rolling down the road, it's probably mine

Now all that’s left is to come on down to Uwharrie next weekend for CTB’s Fun Caravan and CJ raffle.

Im going down the weekend of the 26-28th with a couple buddy's from church. I wanted to do the weekend y'all were there but the dates didn't work out for us. I think the 26-28 is Jeep Jamboree?...I feel like that's gonna be like driving down the strip at myrtle beach on 4th of July. Hopefully I'm wrong
