What have you done to your rig today?

@Lurch830 Purple People Eater.

Worked on the cracks @Jody Treadway found for me.

Went to crank up the trucks and let them run for a little bit to warm up; my 6.5 turbo diesel truck fired off no problem surprisingly but my Vortec 454 truck struggled. Had to crank it and pump the throttle (don't know how much good it did but it made me feel better) and I got it to fire off, it hit and miss for a few revolutions and finally cleared up running on all 8 cylinders.
Well it ran and drove fine, it's started up no problem but I tested fuel pressure and found this. Vortec 454s like 58-62 PSI but I didn't come close.

Running

Womp womp. I suspect it's the fuel pressure regulator being bad (again) since it'll have a hard hot start every once in a while but this is new. Possibly because of the cold snap and sitting? I don't know, I'll have to find some time to dig in and tinker with it or find the money to farm it out to someone who can tinker with it.

Drove the wheeler to work today, well attempted to, the damn steering shaft popped off the steering box on 127 in hickory. Limped it into a parking lot, of course I didn't have tools so I had to walk to Lowe's near by, fixed it and took it home to grab another car. That will wake you up!

That’s scary lol 😂 mine did that on the main road in Harlan. The throttle hung wide open at the same time. Got flip number 376 from that and took top of my ear off and rocked my world. Learned quickly to strap in tighter even on service roads.

Wild! One good thing my parents instilled in me was if a vehicle is moving you are strapped in, it's been a habit since I could I remember. I feel weird moving without belts on.

That poor car has been extremely neglected and will probably end up a project as well
Weeeeeeeeeeelp. The thermostat is stuck open, which means no heat, which is really a deal breaker up here, and it of course isn't a normal thermostat. Annnnd googling the car it sounds like the water pumps like to fail around 60,000 miles, and wouldn't you know it, the car has 58,780 miles on it. May as well do the cooling system service.

AND I learned the top leaks... so doing that too.

Then I'll start swapping things 🥴

Pulled the plow mount off that was on it when I got it.

Also did new pads, rotors, and parking brake shows in the rear.

And swapped the stock 20” wheels for some 18’s

I have no idea how the dude keep the inside of these wheels so clean, but I’m not upset about it.

20s were 98lbs each, 18’s are 84lbs each. It truly does ride and drive better, and just feels quicker and easier moving about.

On another note, the meth tracker is back! Not sure what I did but rattled a bunch of wires, checked timing( was good) and she fired up tonight. Pisser that it’s UNF last weekend. Since the vet ride I’ve done new coil, TPS, IAT sensor, replaced the CV shaft I discombobulated, welded in a new rear shock mount I ripped to shreds, and have a set of new rear shocks on the way considering the old (assumed 1993 factory ones) were BLOWED out. On new shoes and ready for the next beat down. Gonna drive it around the farm a bit and keep the gas fresh. Cmon spring time for a UNF trip to test it out again. Unless it doesn’t want to run again lol
