'85 Xtra Cab Build

Heard that BCox...Same thing happened to that first tie rod I had. Im really hoping It doesnt happen again with the assist. I need to start building a motor for this thing not fix other shit all the time.

Got to give the truck a decent beating today at a friends property down in Shelby.

Verdict:
-Hydro Assist...awesome
-TN Cut TSL's...sombitchlldig

Needs something done about the wickedly stiff rear springs. Doesn't allow much weight transfer to the back on climbs so it feels really light and the front seems to pull considerably more than the rear will dig. Considering linking the back and finally putting my fuel cell in.

Got to working on this thing a little bit tonight. Torched all the unnecessary brackets off the axle and took the gas tank out and mocked up the fuel cell. Need to make some mounts for the cell and it will be moving again.

Going to order some 4link tabs/brackets and truss stuff here soon and start building the rear axle and links as funds and time allow.

Let me know when you wanna order some link chit.

Fuel cell is in and mounted. New filter, lines etc. Apparently I had mudwhompin residue in my fuel filter. Probably why my truck wouldn't idle well before this. Just a guess though.

Might as well linkt he front also....and add a ls motor....and atlas....and tons....

what 4link set up are you doing? coils or coilovers, hiems or creeper joints

Still not 100% decided but leaning toward Ruff Stuff's universal 4 link kit which comes with 8 1-1/4 heims. Wanted to run coilovers if the price was right but I'll probably end up going with air shocks.

After dumping it on the waterfall yesterday I really need to finish the cage before I do anything else.

^ Thats cooler than the chick in Total Recall! LAW!

side note...bent some tube on this pile. main bars from the b pillar forward are done, meanbrow is bent, dash bar is cut. Just need to triangulate the roof, cut some spreaders for the meanbrow/dashbar and figure out some kind of door bar.

I really wish I had finished the cage sooner. Its taken about 4 more good flops since doing the B pillar stuff...Trying to fit everything into a bashed up cab that is in noway square is a fuggin pain.

:poop: cell phone pictures from in the shop to come soon.

Looks good homes. Nothing completes the beat to death toyota look like a roof and pillars mashed in against an interior cage.

Got the cage about wrapped up tonight. Still need to figure out some sort of door bar at some point.
