That shock mount is probably beefier than anything on my two rigs lol

And not heavy.

The two tabs adjacent to the shock are 1/4. Everything else is 1/8, while the laminate is 14ga. Didn't weigh it, but I will the other side, for shits and giggles.

Definitely picking up some building tips. My k5 is just simple beefy bitch, but my jeep I might do that laminate thing. I like the dimples dies and stuff

Can't wait to see this in action at the next race event at the flats ......and you've been hiding an EB in there too?!?

Yea, I'm ready to get done. My favorite time of year to wheel and I'm missing it...

The EB belongs to a friend of mine/my diesel mechanic. Full on, steel body replacement, 5.0...street driver for him and his girls. I was working on it at another location, but had to move it here. Fixing to get real full in here; also doing a '41 Chevy on S-10 frame, ls, 4l80, for the same friend this winter.

One question.....do you sleep?

I can barely find time to go outside and kick the tires on my projects :p

Also, I thought you weren't going to paint this thing, but I see pencil marks all over the sheet metal. Just in case there was any doubt, I think you should leave them as-is.

Back to doing work...

Working on the front end; finishing upper link mounts-from my booty fab temp mounts, and starting construction on the shock mounts, upper and lowers.

is this at full bump? if not can you take this same picture at full bump? curious to see where your links are in relationship to motor pulleys at full bump

Here are today's pic. I dropped the uppers ".75, still maintaining 9" of separation and a 12.5" spread on center. Main reason for the change was to have more room for the accumulator and exhaust. Ya'll wouldn't believe how tight this bastard will be once everything finds a home. [emoji90]

Items left to go under hood; exhaust, bumps, accumulator, rad, expansion tank, overflow, steering resi and cooler, washer reservoir, shock resi's, of course the winch and possibly sway bar.

This front end is kicking my ass today. Attempting 7" uptravel; will work fine on the bumpstops but during articulation there won't be any fenders left. Will most likely raise the front ride height 1" but leave the travel at 7" to have articulation top out cleanly without interference. Also may have to put the shocks through the hood if I can't make the ride height change work...damn narrow axles...[emoji36]

(Raising the front will not give it the Carolina squat, it had a slight positive rake naturally in the body...)

Matt

Are you going to rip it all apart and finish weld paint etc?
Not painting anything. Scotch brite, and protectant....at least until I get tired of the aggravation. Leaving the body just like it is. Fully welding it out as I go, there's a few underneath I haven't gotten to yet.

Matt

Do some body work try the thought of a double cowl where the shocks come through the hood. Give us a pin point of where the shocks come through the hood and how high they will be you may be able to pull off a small cowl that's suttle on each side cover that by racing stripes. Just a thought

Finally! After about 12 attempts of resetting the shocks in multiple locations I was able to nearly attain the impossible, lol. 16" shocks on a manche with 40° of steering and 39's between the headlight and the door- (almost)...but alas I do have to go through the hood. Which doesn't upset me too terribly, aside from the sleeper theme, I do like the look of tasteful mounts through the hood.

Now I can rock and roll and finish the rest of the heavy fab before I can finally start the hanging of stuffs on the truck!

And here's the almost, had to get into the back of the market light area of the header panel. No biggie, was going to adapt an led light in there anyway.
