Alaska Off-Road Warriors

It is quite annoying how seat belts are optional at best for these guys

I would be more pissed what they are doing to your 4 runner, thats your rigs twin isn't it?

Finally got to watch the first episode....... this is sad.... but they definitely stick to the run what you got motto. LOL 5 miles in and overheating? How do you expect to drive across Alaska.

Meh, it'll survive. It's a toyota, if the rust don't eat it it'll keep truckin. As you can see, it's hard to get any real speed outta that 22re and big tires.

Biggest difference though is that it look like they have one of the infamous awful 3 or 4" bracket lifts that add a lot of stress to the frame mounts, so the way they're treating it it's just a matter of time before it's all twisted up

And Team Rover wrapped straight around a tree with no protection strap after all the crap they gave Super Jeep:eek:

That's not at all how ratings are calculated.

Unless you have a Nielsen box in your house, nobody knows or cares what you watch.

smh always a smart ass

I guess I failed to mention that I have been watching it on demand. Again I encourage ALL of you to do the same.

What many consumers don't know about their DVRs is that in addition to retrieving scheduling information, they also share data about what you're watching and when.

The guys in the rover are funny as hell

I noticed that as well.

That idiot is the epitome of an off-roading hipster.

Off-road hipster lol, aKA every rover owner with a lift I've ever met. Dude sure does think he knows all about off-road etiquette because he can show you 'Forums of information on his side'! Whats the chances those are Range Rover forums? "don't let that tree touch my paint!"

Team rover quote (paraphrasing),
"we have the smallest tires and the smallest engine out here"

Since when is a 2.5L turbo diesel smaller than a 22re, and a shorter wheelbase not make up for tire size??

I'll be rooting for them to break every episode.

Absolutely correct!! If you have cable or satellite they know what you watch, and if you have a DVR with either TWC or Directv or TiVo they all have a service that recommends shows based on what you watch and or record

Nope.

"They" are your content provider. Your content provider doesn't care what you watch. Shows are selected for renewal based mostly on

Nielsen ratings, which are based solely on the viewing habits of a few thousand people who have Nielsen boxes in their house.

Talk about a smart ass. Post a link you googled to defend your shitty argument, but don't bother to read it and find out that it says exactly what I said.

...... you are also correct. Neilsen is the "standard" for ratings, but service providers are able to collect so much more data over a broader spectrum. And while my provider may not have any interest in what I watch, they do have an interest in money (just look at my bill), and Im sure that data, w/o releasing personal info, is sold on the regular.... but I could be wrong.

Nielsen, networks and advertisers are all wrestling with the problem of media fragmentation, and nobody has charted a clear path forward yet. A number of competing companies like TiVo, TRA and Rentrak, are selling supplementary data to some of Nielsen's clients, but none has a product that's competitive with Nielsen's core TV ratings.

Well I broke down and watched it last night and all I can say is that a good majority of use on here would beat them with no issues.. and most of the vehicles I wheel with our built 100 times better then any on that show..

but it is what I expected.. guys acting like they know it all and some guys acting like idiots

LOL..... and a woman. Lets be PC here :smokin:

well to be honest, thus far she's about the only one that hasn't acted like an idiot
well, aside from being reeeeeeaaaally sloooooow and timid on the driving

You're right. Neilson was the standard... in the 70s.
Nielsen has been dead in the water for about the last 5 years. Internet streaming and now even Twitter followers are measured to determine shows staying power.

Community, Breaking Bad, Mad Men; none of these would have lasted as long if ONLY Neilson ratings were calculated.

yep. wife an i were searching for something to watch. it was on. we watched. wife is made at me for critiqueing all the way through.

i was hoping for an expedition style off road trip. carry in, carry out. from the looks of it i am imagining there are staging areas with fuel and food and such.

Vehicles are poorly built rusted out hunks of junk. I think bruiser mentioned there are users here with way more capable rigs. im not sure how these were selected.
