Yeah...we thought that too during Hugo. Even went with a few buddies to cruise stratford in my 74 CJ-5

Took us 4 hrs to get home that night (Linville rd exit on 40 in K-vegas) because of downed trees, loss of power, and being able to see about 5ft in front of the Jeep because of sideways rain (not counting the fogged up windows because Jeep)
 
Ran the Generac through it's weekly self test yesterday, propane tank is full, 2 bags of lump for the BGE.
5 gallons of gas for chainsaws and leaf blowers.
Plenty of water put away as well as non-perishable food.

All the above means my wife will be all set while I spend the weekend in my shop building axles and prepping my truck for Dixie Run

Yup, I live on top of a hill, so no worry of flooding in my house. I think we have only lost power twice in the past 5 years. Both times it was back on in less than 12 hours. Once was due to an ice storm, and once was due to some fool crashed into a power pole about 3 miles up the road on 68. I figure worst case I have a pine tree or three blow over and I get to have some fun with my chain saw. I'm have a well, so will probably fill up the bath tubs tomorrow night so we can flush the toilets in case we lose power for a short bit.

On a conference call with Emergency Management yesterday they said the National Weather Service told them to be prepared for this storm to remain a cat 2 to the I95 corridor, and to have sustained tropical storm force winds with up to 100 mph gusts in Raleigh. The wind in my biggest concern with this one, especially if it tracks the eye just south of us.

I've got a couple spare rooms in Hartsville right now. Kind of messy in my room atm but a couple beds and a soffa.
 
Since iv'e been prepped up for over 10 years, all i needed was extra beer and dog food.
Seeing the madness at the grocery store just now was priceless!
Some people just don't have a damn clue...
 
I can hunker down and have a good time doing it. !!!.... is that a real word? hunker down?.... :beer::beer:

For those that may have to evacuate and can’t take everything. PLEASE take your animals or get them to a shelter. Also a good friend of mine here has lived through numerous flooding situations. A thing he always does is take LOTS of pictures in and around the house with date codes. It makes insurance claims easier if it should come to that.

Yeah so no water to be found in a single store around here people fighting over a gallon of water earlier while getting pet food! Smdh all these folks out doing this crap will be first to go when shit really hits the fan lol y’all stay safe shit looks rough this time hoping it’s dies out before making landfall
 
Mandatory evacuation in Charleston so we headed to Marion today to see @ramjo and the rest of the family. Got a few neighbors going to ride it out.

Telework is great because I can work anywhere. It’s also terrible because I can work anywhere. :rolleyes: No hurrication for me:p

This one looks like no Joke, Looks horrible, likely destruction of some of my favorite beaches will be devastated.
Watching tv, interviewing a woman at carolina beach saying she aint leaving and riding it out. How fawkin stupid. 15 ft surge if high tide and 100mph plus winds. Woman is gonna freakin die, period. Mindblowing
