Stock class XJ build.

Nothing better than finding the issue while in the shop and not at the race

Leaf spring captured nut broke. So cut chop weld and all fixed.

I will say we are not prepared as usual for this race. Life has been crazy busy.

Last night we hooked up bus to trailer and just issue after issue. So much so I put bus back and hooked truck to trailer and loaded everything. We got lucky and found a hotel that had rooms. So we will make due and do our best.

We had a terrible day of racing but had the best pit crew you could ask for. Lost the clutch and over heated the engine. Only finished one full lap. Another time and day.

Happy to say we made it home. Good to be with the family. Wish things turned out different but it is what it is.

Lost trailer tire, lost trailer axle, lost trailer brake, lost clutch in jeep, over heated jeep, and somehow hurt my elbow. Just not my weekend.

But to get better sometimes you have to fight through the tough times.

Left the jeep and trailer in Kentucky at a local shop hope they can replace rear axle and then I can go get it in a few weeks

If anyone knows someone with a lowboy trailer that can haul trailer with jeep I may need to go that route also if this shop tries to kill me on pricing

Ultra4 drop a video of the Clash at Cross Bars ranch.

We are in the video a few times and they got us passing two rigs one on left and then one on right back to back.

Starting to get some upgrade parts

2.5" fox shocks. And yes I have 4.

Is it perspective that's throwing this off? Or will there have to be significant sheetmetal chop to make those work

these are 39 BFG stickies. they would break every rule the stock class has. ( 35,s DOT, non sticky) it was just for a fun picture, even though I love the way they look on the XJ and maybe when it retires from racing this will be the next tire upgrade for it :)

Well we are back at it

Cut front bumper to lower winch for better air, installed new clutch slave, wired new radiator

Stepping up our game. No more bent smiling axle. Dana 60 going into the rear.

sounds like "stock" class just means it came stock on something lol

So 35” DOT tire limit but D60 is good to go? These are strange rules lol.
Correct. You can run any axle you want and any transfer case. But engine, tranny need to be stock with 35" tire and stock style suspension and single shocks.

Yep...and some of the "Stock" class rigs have a pile of money dumped into them. Pretty sure it was Miller's Grand Cherokee that was 5.9L and stock trans but with an Atlas, spider 9's fancy dual rate PAC coil springs and tuned smooth body shocks among other things.

Just look at the savvy rigs every year. :)

I was very happy to see the Toyota win last year.
