Bus/RV Towrig project

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the mirrors. I'm purchasing an older motor home that has pretty shitty and small mirrors and I'm having a hard time finding better mirrors.
 
Well finally found a good deal on an awning.. but had to get it it late the other night to get the deal.. and I did not want to tow the trailer.. so I wedge the 20 foot awning into my avalanche :)

I also have been working on generator and I am pretty sure I got it all working and plan to test it this weekend..but wanted to get the exhaust up and over the bus roof line so not to burn the ground or bother others.. found a thing called Gen-turi, but for $140.00 I said screw that and built my own for $40.00

yes, it slides off and stores under bus when in travel.. then when you park I slide it on put a pin threw the metal and connect the black pipes..

thats what i figured, just havent noticed it on RVs before. Does it really make that much of a difference in noise? Most generators or small engines i have run, the engine is louder then the exhaust.
 
It doesn't really make a difference in noise. It's just to get most of the exhaust up and away from ground level.

I'm actually thinking about rerouting my generator exhaust back to the rear of the trailer for similar reasons.
 
yup, no noise reduction with this..

reasons: get hot exhaust off ground especially if in grass, and to get exhaust fumes up in the air so people walking around are not breathing it.. I will test it friday AM to make sure it works.. if it works correct and I set the gaps correct then you can take a piece of paper and put it pipe at bottom and you will see paper fly out the top.. that means it is sucking fresh air in from around gap and mixing with exhaust fumes as it goes out the top..

some nicer camp grounds that have no power hookups require these

While both of your situations wouldnt be applicable, I would think that tieing it into the engine exhaust might be a nice option on most RVs

What kinda tires were those you put on it? Kinda looked like a BFG or a Toyo. I'd assume it's got Budd rims? Sorry, I'm a tire nerd :rolleyes:

That thing sure has come a long way and it looks badass!
 
front tires are Samson brand new, rear are Whites recaps..

I talked to a bunch of people about Whites before I got them and they all said as long as you run them at correct pressure I should have no problem and being they are 1/4 the cost of brand new I can afford to have spares of them :)

these are 1 piece steel rims. I think the rims are accurite
 
Ahh, gotcha. Recaps don't scare me much. I would never run them on a steer axle though. Last time I checked, some of the Michelin XDN2s were in the 550-600 dollar range....per tire. Granted, they'll last 500k +...I just couldn't fork over that much money!

My issue is the tires on the bus will get old before they wear out.

In all reality I only drive 1000 to 2000 miles a year

I figure I'm already buying a couple thousand gallons of the stuff a year, anyway.

What kind of mileage does the bus get? 8-10ish?
