I was surveying a farm, topo, ponds, fences etc.They had 3 Ostriches in round fence about 3 acres. When I went to locate the fence they went nuts! the ran around fast and tryed to bite me though fence. The farmer came to the fence and opened the fence and got in the fence. He calmed them so I work. I'm 6.2 and looking up at a bird that was 8' was crazy. The farmer had goats too, maybe 20 in the fence maybe 5 arces and a pond. I was walking around w the rod getting shots and my coworker was at gun. We had walkie talkies and my buddy says this small black billy was sneaky up to me. I turn around and look at it and eats grass, etc. I walk to next shot and it eats grass and again. Then It sneaks up runs and butts my legs and about knocked down. He comes at me again and poke it w the pole, still it's coming again. I dropped the pole and grabbed its horns and flipped it. Then it walked away but it followed me until I got out of the fence.

Ollie's turn to get in the stand. His first deer hunt. 50 yards from where I killed the little 7 pt at earlier, so maybe there's a deaf and blind deer around lol.

You would think that would be a dead deer... you would be wrong.

Muzzleloader hang fired. So no clue where I hit him. But he hit the ground and started flooping then got up and make a run for it. But I did found plenty of blood for close to 400 yards. Then it just stopped.

Aasannnddd that's why the smoke pole just stays in the safe. Hate to see that and I hope you find him.
 
Went this morning and couldn't find buck rain had washed all traces of it away. Went back this afternoon to look. (Still no luck)

But when I pulled in and stopped had to do a double take. 8 point was in the field. Muzzleloader worked like it should have today.

Sometimes I take being lucky

I was busy with the to-do list over the weekend when dad and I realized how late it was. I still had 3+ hours of stuff to do before heading to Wilton so I told him to save the drive to his house/stand & hop in my stand since I wasn't seeing anything worth tagging. 1.5hrs later he calls & tells me to bring his truck to the food plot. Would've been an 8pt, but I'm guessing got hit by a car or whipped by a bigger one. Puts it at the biggest 5pt I've ever seen :)lol:) and the biggest body dad has tagged.

My uncle got an old DOT construction trailer that has the leveling posts on the corners and turned it into a wheelchair accessible portable blind. I think he even put solar panels & a 12V battery in it for phone chargers, RV lights, etc.
