"Blast from the Past" 79' RV restore

the breaks in the ceiling and along walls will be covered with 1x2 and 1x3 depending on what width will look best so that will take care of the joints being a little wavy (that's the part that the true paneling would've been nice for). I'm gonna try and trim it out like I used to do Log Cabins so trim might be a while cause I'd really like to round up some cedar 1x stuff for lightweight. Will keep posted

got to do some little work on it today...started on framing the couch on one side and the storage drawers underneath and pretty happy with that progress. I found a stupid good deal on a nice loveseat for the house so I took the couch from the house that I'd been wanting to get rid of anyways and cut it to fit in the RV...worked out pretty good and it's way more comfortable now since the cushions sit tighter together and on harder platform. so here's that progress...

well, I've made a little progress...Kitchen counter and the water tank mounted with new fittings and filler tube and filled it up enough to check for leaks..all good! I got the framing for the "bench bed" done and the back wall entertainment stand bench done too...can't wait to get the entertainment center setup, it's gonna sound good in this thing!! (now that spring is here, lawn care/landscaping is back in the work so not as much free time but still getting it along).

Driveshafts will be ready mid next week..WOO HOO, I can test drive it again, this time with better results hopefully!!

Need a little tip on something: when driving down the road will I be able to play the Home stereo I'm planning on installing without the generator running? I'm still a little off on how all that works and stuff. The manual doesn't really explain the whole generator/inverter stuff that well if it's even the full manual lol.
2nd Question: anyone know how much PSI the Air Bags hold? I've never had them and don't know how much air to put in them...there's no tag anywhere for anything on em. thank you

No you won't be able to run the home stereo. It has to have a 110V AC source. Unless, you run a power inverter to change 12V DC to 110V AC. The one that comes with the home, changes the 110V AC source from AC to DC to power the lights and so on.
I run 60 psi in my air bags, but your mileage may vary. Basically looking to level it out when you have your jeep on the trailer and hooked up, ready to roll down the road.

Ok so just to make sure I'm getting it: the Generator is what gives 110v AC to the outlets but when it's not on, everything is off and running on the car batteries which is DC. I think I got it.
2. so the air bags are more for leveling and keep the psi under 80 to be on the safe side? what about when not loaded and just driving normal, maybe flat towing a regular suv...do you put air in them then for any added "stability." thank you sir

thanks again Chip. so none of the outlets are going to work until the generator is running, correct. only the lights work because they are DC power but anything that is wired into the 110house style wire will only work when the generator is kicking...

well I got some awesome work done...finally got the "Entertainment Center" framed with some shelving...I LOVE IT!! SOUNDS AWESOME! At half volume with those 1981 Fisher Cabinets, it was rockin it. I can't wait to be at a stop light next to some kid with a car system....at 3/4 volume he won't know what hit em LOL. (yeah, I'm still a little kid at heart). I love vintage stereos. I have these Fisher 10" Cabinets and in the house I have 15" Fisher Cabinets that would blow out every window in this thing. The 10s sound really really good and clear being mounted up top and the bass isn't as overpowering so it is amazingly clear crisp sound even 20ft away I could understand every note.

What is the primary system of holding up the vehicle? Does it have springs on all four corners? Are the air bags just for assistance?

leaf springs rear with added coil springs that have the air bags inside the coil springs and the front is coil sprung with air bags inside them and maybe that's it...haven't really studied the front much since I've worked on the rear driveshafts LOL. so I guess the air bags are more for "assistance".

This shit?

Air Lift 1000

Sounds like somebody retrofit it with airbags to up the effective spring rate. Especially so with the helper springs on the back.

I guess so..I don't know anything about air bags...I'll get some pictures once I start working underneath it. From what I saw while dealing with driveshafts, there is a Coil Spring (pretty thick) on top of the axle with the air bag thing inside of it...on top of the regular leaf springs and such.

take in consideration, just because you like the music, someone else may not. As far as I know, I have never been at a wheeling camp area where "some kid" was blasting their stereo, most of the time the sounds you hear are subtle, and more often than not, it's the sounds of banging, and wrenching and friends having conversations.

I honestly had to reason with myself whether jailtime was worth it at Adventure park. @Jason W. @Don M & @Joe J. can all agree....assholes blasting music and camping DO NOT MIX

We honestly did think about taking actiin with consequences on that guy, burning his tent was talked about after 5 attempts to talk to him like a grown man.

I remember one fella at the flats once upon a race, getting the fuel line taken off his generator after his first extension cord had been cut because he refused to turn it down...

i think there was a generator bandit running around at a few races :)

And a pyrotechnician

hey no problem guys...trust me guys this "system" in here isn't for the camping and the parks by no means. I won't listen to music or watch a movie unless it's the "full spectrum" sound and that's why I have it in my house and in this rv.
I was referring to the "stop lights" driving through town messing with the "right kid/person" that I know would appreciate it as I would. If I had a system in my car and some RV pulled up and overpowered mine, it would make my day too and give a good laugh, lol but I'm with you guys, loud music at a campground especially a lot of it and late is a NO NO for me too. I will enjoy a few good songs during a dinner/lunch afternoon hangout but otherwise it will be kept at levels only in my area will hear. Sorry to seem that I would be one of those, didn't intend that at all.

Holy cow...5 attempts of talking and nothing??? I'm surprised he wasn't given a ultimatum by the owner/club members of "shut the heck up or leave" after the 3rd round. I can't say I could deal with that 5times...2-3 is my limit of being polite then something has to happen cause well, everyone paid to be there and everyone deserves the same rest/peace/enjoyment.
